Healthy Habits - NDIS Capacity Building Program

Many people with NDIS funding are living independently or semi-independently with life skills that can lay the foundations to be built upon. If people have funding to develop their daily living skills (under Capacity Building) and are looking for a way to receive this service then we have a group that will meet that need. Our program is especially suited to those that are seeking social engagement in a small group setting and who otherwise have limited opportunities to engage with services or to form supportive relationships to build healthy habits.

The evident need for a suitable life skills program (under NDIS’ ‘Capacity Building’) for moderate to high functioning individuals with psychosocial/mental health, interpersonal (high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder/ Asperger’s Syndrome) and mild intellectual disabilities is what inspired the creation of this program.

Healthy Habits (an 8-week program) is currently available in:

  • Wodonga

  • Shepparton

  • Wangaratta

To apply for this program, simply complete a referral form:

The program consists of a set routine of healthy habit like activities one after the other (to establish habits/routines); morning catch up, light exercise, a game, stretching, short skill development session (budgeting, paying bills, dietary, symptom management etc.), group cooking (affordable, simple, healthy meals) and a group lunch.

Eligibility

The participant will need sufficient funding in the Improved Daily Living (Capacity Building) portion of their plan (8 weeks; 48 hours; $3,100), will need to be suited to a small group setting, be able to manage transport and be living independently or semi-independently. This group is not suited to those that have 24 supported care.

Joining Healthy Habits Capacity Building Program

The NDIS is unique in that participants are now given choice and control over the supports that they receive. If funding for “Improved Daily Living” is included in the plan, then this often means that capacity building groups and programs (under “Improved Daily Living”) are covered. The next step is to join the waitlist.
